“Hear this, Rosie. You are worth every penny. Every fortune. Every investment. Every risk. You are priceless to me.”
― Elsie Silver, Wild Love
Blurb
She’s been driving him wild for years . . . the good kind of wild.
The kind of wild that comes with wanting your best friend’s little sister and knowing you can’t have her.
Forbes may have labelled Ford Grant the World’s Hottest Billionaire, but all he cares about is escaping the press and opening a recording studio in gorgeous small-town Rose Hill. Something that comes to a screeching halt when he ends up face-to-face with a young girl who claims he’s her biological father. Now, he spends his days balancing business with parenting a sullen twelve-year-old, all while trying desperately to keep his hands the hell off his best friend’s sister, Rosie Belmont.
After living in the city, Rosie came blasting back into town like a storm. Beautiful, messy, and chaotic. And one wide-eyed, desperate plea for a job is all it takes for Ford to hire her. He vows to keep her at arm’s length. Tries to stick to scowls and grumpy one-liners. But with her, verbal sparring is a type of foreplay―friction that soon turns to blistering heat.
Ford knows damn well he shouldn’t cross this line. But shouldn’t and can’t are two very different things.
And the only thing he truly can’t do is resist her.
Book review
If you haven’t heard of the name Elsie Silver by now, then you must be living under a rock! Because her presence is everywhere, with her books popping up all over social media.
I admit myself that I am rather late to the game in discovering this author for myself and had only read the one book before picking up Wild Love. That book in question was the first book in The Chestnut Springs series, which I devoured and loved, and although I haven’t gotten round to reading the rest in that series, they are most definitely on the TBR and are all on my kindle waiting for me.
But I’m not here to talk about the Chestnut Springs series, I am here to talk about Wild Love, the first book in the newest series by Elsie (Rose Hill series).
After already being introduced into the mind of this author and the worlds that she creates, I knew that Wild Love would be another instant 5 star read for me, and it was! I read it as part of an online book club read for August with a bunch of brilliant people, who also loved and raved about this. This was all as part of BookmarkedByChris’ discord group. (If you are yet to join, I encourage you to!)
In Wild Love we are introduced to billionaire Ford Grant Junior (though he really hates that. IYKYK 😉) At the beginning of the book Ford is setting up his own music business/studio and we see him talking to his childhood best friend, West. It soon becomes clear that Ford has always had a bit of a crush on West’s younger sister, who has moved to the big city. The bromance between these two really shows how close they are as friends. And at the end of chapter one Ford is hit with the discovery that he has a long-lost teenage daughter, who literally turns up on his doorstep! I won’t give too much away on that bombshell, but I will say that the daughter, Cora, is my favourite character from the whole book! She is feisty, sarcastic and sassy, and is in her goth/emo phase, so reading about her really drew parallels with me when I was her age. If I had met her when I was 12/13, I just know we would have been the best of friends.
So not only does Ford have Cora to come to terms with, but he is also thrown again when his best friends sister comes back to Rose Hill and right back into his life. Rosie has hit a bit of a crossroads in her life, both personal and professional, so comes back to her childhood hometown to try and reset and recharge. From the minute she bumps back into Ford, the sparks are flying, as well the insults and banter that their relationship has been built on.
Rosie is another strong character, who again is feisty and sassy, and its this that keeps Ford on his toes. The dynamic between these two is electric. Ford gives ultimate book boyfriend vibes, and Rosie is the kind of girl you would love to be friends with.
Wild Love is the perfect small town romance read, you have the grumpy X sunshine trope that all us romance lovers swoon for! Forced proximity, small town western setting, and single dad tropes also. And talking of single dads, the entire Rose Hill series is based on the single dads of Rose Hill, who are all part of the same bowling team. The next book is called Wild Eyes, and will follow West, and the excitement I have for that is off the charts 😀 Thankfully I don’t have much longer to wait, as it publishes September 3rd!
In conclusion, Wild Love was an utter joy to read. I really can’t fault this author and as soon as I finish book two in this Rose Hill series I am going to go back and finish the entire Chestnut Springs series. I’d love for this review to encourage you to read Wild Love for yourself, I’m positive you will not regret it 😉
