As I type this, I have just finished my 7th book this week, 5 of them being thrillers.
As you can probably tell, I am on a real thriller kick as of late.
Let’s jump straight in. Here’s 3 thriller books to pick up this year and my spoiler free thoughts…
When You Disappeared
John Marrs
All she wanted was the truth, but she’ll wish she never found out.
When Catherine wakes up alone one morning, she thinks her husband has gone for a run before work. But Simon never makes it to the office. His running shoes are by the front door. Nothing is missing—except him.
Catherine knows Simon must be in trouble. He wouldn’t just leave her. He wouldn’t leave the children.
But Simon knows the truth—about why he left and what he’s done. He knows things about his marriage that it would kill Catherine to find out. The memories she holds onto are lies.
While Catherine faces a dark new reality at home, Simon’s halfway around the world, alive and thriving. He’s doing whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of the truth.
But he can’t hide forever, and when he reappears twenty-five years later, Catherine will finally learn who he is.
And wish she’d stayed in the dark.

I’ll jump in and say this was a five-star read from myself. Whilst some parts I questioned to be rather over-written and drawn out. However, I sharply changed my mind by the end.
The journey of the characters was well fleshed out giving the characters a lot of depth and empathy. Adding to the twists that were later revealed.
I had a feeling early on on one particular twist but when it was revealed and to why I was surprised. I love thrillers like this because it keeps you guessing and is a genuine page-turner.
It only took me a day of on and off reading to finish this which just shows how interested I was in the book. Surprisingly enough as I’m not usually one that loves the home setting of a thriller. I must prefer serial killers and gore in my thrillers.
I recommend this book to those that love the likes of ‘The Housemaid’ by Freida McFadden & ‘Then She Was Gone’ by Lisa Jewell
For those that use Kindle Unlimited, this is currently included!
The Twenty
Sam Holland
A shocking crime scene…
DCI Adam Bishop has never seen anything like it. Five murder victims – all with numbers written above their bodies. And the spray-painted daubs reveal a horrific truth: the killer is counting down…
A case that twists and turns…
When Dr Romilly Cole learns of the murders, they trigger memories of a traumatic past she has tried hard to forget. But getting involved with the case is a bad idea. She and Bishop have history – and working together could never end well.
A race against time to stop a killer…
Adam and Romilly soon realise the truth lies in a decades-old case, and only Romilly holds the key. But they must act quickly, because with every passing day, there are more victims. And as the numbers edge toward zero, the murders get closer to home…

Fast paced, serial killer thriller packed with intense storytelling and an interesting plot. This is sure to keep you up late at night reading. It certainly did with me.
What I loved about this book was it’s actually a sequel, however, it works very well and easy to follow as a standalone as it focuses on a different detective than ‘The Echo Man‘
There was a particular scene that I won’t go into detail on that actually made me uncomfortable – as a massive gore and thriller lover, this is rare!
How To Commit The Perfect Murder In 10 Easy Steps
Jessica Huntley
A step-by-step guide to committing the perfect murder. Best get your pen and notebook out for this one.
Clueless … meets … Gone Girl!
Ashleigh Carmichael has it all: money, fame, expensive cars, a multi-million-pound London house and the adoration of millions of social media followers.
Curtis Redding does not have it all: homeless, penniless, down on his luck and he doesn’t even own a phone. Plus, he’s wanted to kill Bryan Matthews since he was a child.
Ashleigh (through no fault of her own) winds up getting dragged into the power-play between Curtis and Bryan, who clearly have ongoing issues with each other. Bryan has inadvertently kidnapped her, and is holding her Fendi handbag for ransom. Therefore, where her bag goes … she goes, so she joins him on a road trip around the country. Curtis, meanwhile, is tracking them every step of the way.
Can she help the men overcome their differences? Or will she end up fighting for her life too?
Plus … will she ever get her handbag back? (There’s personal stuff in there!)

Now, stay with this one as it can get a little confusing, but it is so worth it! Split between multiple point of views and timelines this book jumps back and forth between the past and the present. Which really keeps you reading wanting to know more. Along with that there’s some diary entries, which to me really kept me gripped trying to work out who they could belong to.
I personally loved the 10 steps part of the story, throwing in a little humour and insight into the mind of the murderer.
you’ll enjoy the ride, trust me!
